Basic Information

Hello friends! I am beginning my training in permanent cosmetics in June! I am being trained through the Permanent Cosmetics Academy of Utah. Here is a brief description of permanent cosmetics, what it entails and the amazing benefits.

First, permanent cosmetics, also known as micropigmentation is a procedure where pigment is inserted into the upper layer of the dermis of your skin. Permanent cosmetics last 5-8 years, but touch-ups or color enhancements may be needed to refresh the coloring. Permanent cosmetics can be done for eyeliner, eyebrows, and lips as well as facial correction for hairlips and scars. Colors are chosen by you and are custom blended for each client. Procedures are done safely! Needles and other materials are never re-used.

Next and very important to most people, does it hurt? During the procedure, topical anesthesia is used to minimize pain and discomfort. Depending on the person, the procedure can be mildly uncomfortable. I laughed through my entire eyeliner procedure because I felt it tickled. There is some discomfort afterwards, but ibuprofen and Tylenol help. The area swells slightly, but bleeding is RARE! The entire procedure lasts around 2 hours.

The healing time varies on procedure. You are able to drive, go to work and do most activities directly after your procedure. For about 5-7 days, you will need to apply a thin layer of ointment (provided) to your skin. Touching the area with your fingers or washing the area for that time is to be avoided as it can remove the pigmentation or promote infection. During the healing, itching can occur because the skin is healing, do not scratch as it will peel the color out.

After the initial 5-7 days, life returns to normal, apply any other makeup as you desire (foundation, mascara, blush) but your time getting ready will be decreased immensly! Imagine showering, going to the gym, and sleeping--all looking your best!

I have loved having my eyeliner permanently applied! I never have to worry if my eyeliner is even or if it will run when I cry. My time getting ready has been shortened and I've saved money on eyeliner and even mascara because I don't have to use as much! These procedures are perfect for the girl on the go!
