I have just finished doing two lip procedures. Here are some photos:

Second procedure: Immediately after application (The anesthetic makes the lips swell a little bit.)
You can see that the color blends down. Some people may choose to have a more defined liner, each application is personal. When the swelling goes down and the color fades on this client, the color will look natural as it blends into the natural lip color.
